Although I currently work in education, most of my career was spent managing homeless services. I started as a trainee psychiatric nurse, but even though I was 18, I probably wasn't ready for the responsibility of ward life.
Instead, I moved into the voluntary sector and loved working in hostels for the homeless. Over two decades, I continued to work with people with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and substance misuse issues. The people I worked with were brilliant and such great company. Now I work with teenagers, my days are just as varied and fun!
Writing has always been my passion and I write or think story most days. I hold a first class degree with hons in English Literature and certificates in a wide range of subjects, including a PGCE, management and leadership; coaching; children's and young people's mental health, and creative writing.
I've lived in or around Brighton for decades and love living by the coast. I'm never far away from either the sea, my family and a flat white.
I'm an avid reader and so it makes sense I love hearing from other readers -- do drop me a line from the contacts page or follow me on twitter kate__bradley to let me know what you thought of my book.
